A major presence in the Mid-Market area, the former Renoir Hotel was revitalized pacing with the redevelopment of this up-and-coming area of the city. Continuously used as a hotel, its reawakening integrated modern architecture elements with lively interior finishes and amenities into a finely detailed historic building. Knapp Architects consulted on the integration of new components including the rooftop bar and inserted lobby stair with the historic interior; designed and documented restoration of the original lobby, storefronts and transoms; and designed a new entry canopy along Market Street incorporating original remaining elements. Knapp also prepared historic preservation tax certification applications and coordinated numerous field conditions for a seamless rehabilitation.
