Shorenstein selected our firm to prepare a Historic Resource Evaluation for a new housing project in a designated historic district. The development project would replace buildings that do not contribute to the significance of the district in which they are located while the historic Prager’s Department Store at the corner of Market and Jones Streets would be retained. We conducted research on the historic district and evaluated the proposed design to determine compatibility under the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. We consulted with the San Francisco Planning Department on the proposed design under its review procedures for the California Environmental Quality Act.
