Historical Documentation

Knapp Architects prepares a wide range of historical documentation. Based on historical research, architectural history, and evaluation of existing conditions, these studies provide information and analysis for development, management, and planning for historic resources. Our firm has prepared numerous historic structure reports, a recognized format used widely in the United States for long-term operation and improvement of historic buildings and sites. Our work also includes historic resource surveys, and more focused studies such as the Historic Resource Evaluations and Supplemental Information Forms required by the San Francisco Planning Department. We bring to these reports a command of the technical requirements of historical research, experience with the applicable professional and regulatory standards, and a practical sense of the needs and options facing owners and stakeholders.
